So, I found something that is pretty jalop, a manual wagon. A 2001 Volvo V70 T5 to be exact, my questions are, what is there to really know about these cars? All the research I've been doing has been on the S60/80, so I know next to nothing about the wagons, anyone want to enlighten me?

Edited because I screwed up the model name

Same deal with the tranny on the s80. 01-02 v70/XC70s have a terrible rep for having the tranny fail around 100k miles.

The V50 is an S40 with a different body.

They also hold their value surprisingly well. I was looking to buy an 06 one but the seller wanted 10 grand for it.

The ad says V70, and the car in the pictures is a V70. This is a V50.

Yeah it is pretty bad, but I mean, I try to use stuff like that to my advantage, be like, "Oh uhh, this is going to need a REALLY good detail" and get some money off

Look at late 03s if you want a Volvo, my 03 XC70 cost me 5600 bucks and has been pretty decent in terms of reliability. It's sitting at 115k roughly and hasn't needed anything more than 2 oil changes and a coil pack since I bought it in August.

(Note - I did need a new ABS sensor and power steering pump but this is because of my hoonage.)

That's a good strategy. That's going to be one hell of a detail, Haha.

Well, I do enjoy cleaning my cars, plus it's a good way to really learn the interior and how it's put together

Same, I enjoy detailing my car. Vomit and Dog shit aren't my favorite things to remove. (I've dealt with both, Gag)

That could be a steal if it doesn't need work and you're ready for preventative maintenance.

Preventative maintenance I don't mind, I can do the vast majority of things myself, I just don't want to have to do a bunch of catch up work on it

Yeah, but the problem is not just jalops hoon these things, so they tend to be in bad shape sometimes

Hah, nice. That is why I always try to get leather seats in all my cars, I have a kid, and a wife that likes to make messes. So much easier to clean

Haha, my old Jetta had seats like this picture (Not my picture)

The vomit blended right in, Haha.

I just removed the seats and rented a steam cleaner.

Holy shit man. You know it's bad when you have to remove seats just to clean. Good looking interior though, those seats are batshit crazy I love em

Yeah, Haha. Mine was bone stock on the inside though, no steering wheel cover or blue stuff. It was a good car, somewhere around 300k on it when I crippled it, can never be sure with older cars though.

Sick roommate was the perp. The dog was the shit perp.

I just had to remove the passenger seat luckily, not a very pleasant job that anyways.

It didn't smell pleasant, that's for sure. But thanks to the power of Febreeze and a bunch of chemicals and carpet cleaner. It was gone.

I have the worst luck involving bodily fluids and cars it seems, Haha.

Hey brother so I have a question, since you have an s80. So I've found a 2000 s80, it has 158k miles, the transmission was replaced at 134k miles. Guy is asking 3500. Should I go for it?

Seems high, but if it's clean and the trans is only 24,000 miles old, I say go for it.*

How do you like it? I'm going from hot hatches and an 80's sport car to this, so don't know what to expect with it. What do you average with mpg?

Kinja'd!!! For Sweden > Jeremy H formerly Kalakaboooom

I love it; fantastically comfortable DD with ergonomics from Odin himself.

I have the non-turbo, and I can get the equivilant of 30 mpg highway, 22 mpg city. I imagine the T6 will be worse.

Hmm nice.

Yeah the vast majority of my driving (at least a good 80% each week) will be interstate driving. I can deal with around 25 mpg or so. Before my wife started working I was driving the 300, if I was lucky I would get 20 mpg combined, and my Accord right now averages a good 27 mpg or so. so if I can hit 22-25 combined I'd be happy
